Very soon you will be able to run UPI app even without internet.  Actually, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is preparing to launch UPI Lite in the market as an on-device wallet.

If you use the UPI app, then this news is of your use. Actually, very soon the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is preparing to launch UPI Lite in the market as an on-device wallet. With this you will be able to do UPI in offline mode as well. However, initially the transfer limit will be kept small. It is being brought for small transactions.

According to NPCI, work on this app is going on and it will be released soon. Initially, only transactions of less than Rs 200 will be allowed from this. The most important thing will be that you will be able to run this app in offline mode as well. That is, internet will not be needed for this. Apart from payment in offline mode, you will also be given some other options to deposit money in the wallet in this app.

According to the report, the on-device wallet limit through this offline app will be up to a maximum of Rs 2000. Wallet limit above this will not be given to you. Users will be able to add money in UPI auto-pay and online mode. UPI Lite can be enabled, disabled and topped up only in online mode.'
